The article discusses the theoretical views that led to the independent theory of social market economy, those schoolars opinions that formed the theory and brought the provisions into the system; the views of the specialists who developed this theory. It is shown the contradictions arising from the application of theoretical positions in modern conditions and the author's views on the nature of these contradictions.
